A Hotel with Heart and History in Bolzano

Parkhotel Laurin Bolzano is more than just a hotel. It’s a place with soul.
A grand Art Nouveau hotel built in 1910 that still feels intimate. Welcoming, without ever being overdone.

The location? Unbeatable. Right in the heart of Bolzano, just steps from the train station, the old town and Piazza Walther. Everything is within walking distance. No car needed. But if you have one: private parking is available – a rare luxury in the city center.

Guests wander from the garden straight into the city. No taxis, no plans. Just a short stroll to cafés, boutiques, markets and museums.

Locals come here for an Apperitivo. Not just for the drinks, but for the ease of it all. It’s the kind of place where people gather who’ve always known how to live well. Soft voices, low music, the quiet rhythm of plates and glasses. It’s not staged. It’s just there. This is what Parkhotel Laurin Bolzano is about.

A Bolzano Hotel Full of Art and Character

You feel it as soon as you enter. The Laurin breathes art. Over 200 original works from the 20th century line its walls. From delicate sketches to bold brushstrokes.

One space stands out: the fresco room, painted in 1911 by Bruno Goldschmidt. It tells the story of King Laurin – the hotel’s mythical namesake.

A Garden with a Pool – Hidden in Plain Sight

What makes this central hotel in Bolzano so unique is its garden. A lush, green retreat tucked behind the building. 4000 square meters of quiet. Old trees, hidden benches, filtered sunlight.

And yes, there’s a pool. Refined and understated. This is why Parkhotel Laurin Bolzano is just perfect for summer days in South Tyrol. A swim, a drink, the sound of birds.

Honest Food, Served with Grace

When I visited, the fine dining restaurant Contamina was closed. Still, the food at the main restaurant impressed. We ate under the trees. Fresh, light, unfussy. Local ingredients, thoughtfully prepared.

The kitchen is led by Chef Dario Tornatore, who brings his Neapolitan roots together with South Tyrolean flavors – precise, honest, full of quiet flavor.

Breakfast the next morning was generous and stylish, with vegan options, too. Room service? Impeccable. Delivered with care, quietly professional. One morning I had breakfast in the room – fresh juice, warm croissants, all served on fine china with the Laurin crest. A quiet, beautiful start to the day.

Bar & Bistro – A Place of Ritual

The Laurin Bar is not a trend. It’s a tradition. Paneled in wood, with velvet armchairs and golden touches, it feels timeless. You stop in for a morning espresso, a Negroni after dark or a long, quiet pause in between.

Next door, the bistro serves refined lunch with calm charm. South Tyrolean classics meet Mediterranean ease. The menu is light, the mood relaxed. Many locals return regularly.

Some guests look like they’ve stepped out of a film. The man in the white linen suit, sipping espresso with his newspaper. The woman in a floral dress, arriving by bike to meet her friends. The Parkhotel Laurin Bolzano is a quiet stage for real life.

And on some evenings, there’s music. Concerts in the garden. Jazz, maybe something classical. Always understated. Always just right.

Elegant Rooms with a View into Green

The rooms at Parkhotel Laurin are timeless and full of charm. Marble bathrooms, tall windows, high ceilings. Some look into the garden. Some stretch all the way to the Dolomites.

A favourite moment: sitting on the balcony in the late afternoon, listening to the trees. The city outside, the stillness within. A soft kind of elegance that wraps around you without saying a word.

Bolzano – A Cinematic City at Your Doorstep

the charming old town of Bolzano

Step outside the Parkhotel Laurin Bolzano and you’re already in it – in Bolzano’s old soul, in its quiet beauty. This city feels almost cinematic. Framed by mountains, kissed by Alpine air, but with an Italian heart that beats warm and slow.

Wander the arcaded streets, past artisan gelato, market stalls, galleries and bookstores. The Museion offers contemporary art in striking architecture. Just across the river, the Ötzi Museum houses the famous iceman – a 5000-year-old window into history.

Bolzano is full of contrast. German and Italian. North and South. Old and new. It’s a city of lived culture – not just shown, but felt. Street musicians in the alleys. Aperitivo at golden hour. Quiet churches and bold design stores, all within walking distance.

If you’re planning a city break in South Tyrol, Bolzano is your place. Small enough to explore in a weekend, rich enough to remember for much longer. And with the Laurin as your base, you’re not just visiting – you’re part of it.

Why You Should Stay at Parkhotel Laurin

Parkhotel Laurin Bolzano, straight in the city center isn’t about loud luxury. It’s about quiet beauty. About arriving, exhaling and staying.

A hotel that doesn’t try too hard, because it doesn’t have to. Art, history, garden, pool, thoughtful food and a bar that feels like home. Right in the heart of the city, yet with all the space you need. A place I’ll gladly return to.
